Tesla CEO, Elon Musk Twitter takeover is coming under increased criticism after he made another change to the social media platform recently. Musk put in place a “temporary limit” on the number of posts users can access each day, with different limits based on subscribership levels.
Twitter, run by Elon Musk, has put a temporary cap on how many tweets users can view each day. Users have expressed concern over this choice, which could affect the platform’s advertising operations.
The limit that was put in place is meant to address problems with excessive data scraping and system manipulation. It represents Twitter’s most recent change since Elon Musk bought the company for a staggering $44 billion last year.
Impact of Change on Twitter Users
Users now need to sign in to Twitter to access tweets. Depending on the account verification level, there are different daily limits on the number of posts that can be read. Unverified accounts are only permitted to view 600 posts daily, but verified accounts get access to up to 6,000 posts per day. The restriction for newly created, unverified accounts is considerably lower: 300 posts. Users will be informed that they have exceeded the rate restriction whenever these limits are achieved.
Elon Musk has stated that he plans to increase these restrictions in the near future. According to his plans, the daily post cap would rise to 10,000 for verified accounts, 1,000 for unverified users, and 500 for brand-new unverified accounts.
Musk has been making efforts to make Twitter’s verified service more appealing. The verification procedure saw considerable alterations as a result of his additions, including the introduction of tiered badges like gray, blue, and golden badges as well as the conversion into a subscription-based business. The verified status on Twitter was intended to become more valuable and exclusive through these adjustments.
User Reactions on Twitter Rate Limit Exceeded
Many Twitter users voiced their complaints, with the hashtags “#TwitterDown” and “RIP Twitter” rising over the past few days.
Due to their daily reliance on evaluating thousands of tweets, informational agencies, journalists, and monitoring services are particularly affected.
The National Weather Service advised subscribers to call its office lines instead of tweeting about severe weather and related damage because they might not be able to view those reports.
Best Twitter Alternatives

The primary alternatives are websites that resemble Twitter, such as Bluesky and Mastodon, Truthsocial. Soon after Musk announced the limits, they experienced a spike in users and activity. Some of the top alternatives to Twitter are discussed below.
Blue Sky
Jack Dorsey, a co-founder of Twitter, launched Bluesky, which is now in beta mode and reported “record high traffic” on Saturday. As a result, Bluesky stated it was temporarily stopping new sign-ups.

Mastodon
Speaking of decentralized Twitter competitors, Mastodon, which has been since 2017, was in many respects the social network best positioned to profit from the Musk exodus.
Although it appears to be similar at first glance (albeit with 500-character “toots” rather than “tweets”), Mastodon’s open-source and somewhat perplexing decentralized structure can make it feel extremely foreign to new users.
On that day, Mastodon’s active user base increased by 110,000, according to CEO Eugen Rochko, the site’s developer.

Tumblr
After the Elon Musk Twitter Imposition, Tumblr is attempting to restore its prior level of popularity. It courted the defection of users from Twitter by promising the opportunity to delete algorithmically suggested content, free editing tools, and a “ridiculously huge character limit.” GIFs, too. many GIFs. GIFs abound.
After being acquired by Yahoo! for $1.1 billion in 2013, the website was unable to successfully compete with more recent mobile-first platforms. When the platform announced it would prohibit sexual content in 2018, traffic statistics experienced additional difficulties.

Truth Social
Another well-known Twitter rival was founded by Donald Trump. Following the US Capitol uprising, which resulted in his expulsion from Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube, the former US president stated Truth Social will provide a free-speech service. With timelines of brief messages, it has an eerily similar visual style to Twitter.
